Snow in Big Canoe in the North Georgia Mountains

We awakened in Big Canoe this morning to an inch of snow and gently falling snow flakes. It will not go down in the record book as the prettiest snowfall ever but it is one of the earliest. The side roads in Big Canoe still have a dusting of snow with the possibility of ice underneath so we have been advised by Big Canoe management to stay off the roads until this afternoon when they should be clear.

The mountain schools in PickensCounty are closed so kids and their dogs are having a great day. Since we don’t get a lot of snow in Georgia, trash can lids, plastic swiimming pools and all sorts of make shift sleds can be seen.  On the golf course behind our home in Big Canoe, we can usually see signs of sledding down the green  to the eighth hole.
